THE AUGUST MEETING WILL BE ON

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 21ST AT LOCAL 24 AT THE REGULAR TIME OF 12:00 NOON

The regular meeting that was for July 18^th was cancelled due to no quorum and no meeting was held.

The regular Executive Board Meeting met on August 7th at 10:00am following a prayer by

Brother Tony Morris.  President Albert Janda discussed that we will again have several guests at August’s regular meeting.  They will be J. W. Forte and Malcolm Pierre from Prudential. Discussion was made that we will attempt to have several copies of our Newsletter translated to Spanish and will be available at the door. We also discussed the October 5^th festival in which we will have Mexican food plates catered and tickets will be $15 each. Each plate will have 1 taco (ground beef), 1 beef and 1 cheese enchilada, rice and beans. Chips and salsa will also be provided. Tea and water will also be available. Food serving time will be from 11am to 2 pm.  Door prizes were discussed and we plan to have a Microwave, Color TV and a Keurig Coffee Maker. One prize each hour. You must be present or have someone present with your ticket to win.

President Albert Janda told the Board that one of our Executive Board members, Brother C. J. Lambert resigned his position due to personal reasons and that we will open our search for his replacement. Due to the fact that in our By-Laws Article IV-Officers it states that “should any vacancies arise on the Executive Board, that position will be replaced by the remaining Board Members unless it is six months before the election for that position” and that it is at present within the six months that we will actively seek any nominations for his position and it will be voted on at the January Membership Meeting. Anyone wishing to run for the this position number 4 which has a term of three years should contact one of Directors for consideration and nomination.

In addition to our gift card raffle we will have a 6 Piece Steak Knife Set by Buck Royalty line of Custom Cutlery which is constructed of 425M modified stainless steel with red micarta handles in a custom box. Tickets will be sold for $5 each and we will continue the knife set raffle through August and September.  Lunch for the August 21^st meeting will be fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli and cheese.  Desserts and iced tea will also be available. Meeting adjourned at 11:30am followed by closing prayer by Brother James Weiskopf.

The Regular Meetings are every 3^rd Wednesday of each month (EXCEPT FOR DECEMBER) at 12 pm at Local 24 Union Hall 4060 Red Bluff Rd Pasadena Texas, 77503.

The Executive Board meets the 1^st Wednesday of each month 10am. (EXCEPT FOR DECEMBER) 2 weeks before the scheduled members meeting at Local 1351 2145 Alabama St. Pasadena, Texas 77503

Your $25 dues for 2024 are now Past due. Please mail to this address in care of Richard Newcomb and make the check out to ILA Retirees Assn. (no cash) If not received by February 28, you will be dropped, and no further newsletters will be sent to you. You may also pay at the meeting.
