                   THE JANUARY MEETING WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY JANUARY 15^th  AT LOCAL 24 AT  THE REGULAR TIME OF 12:00 NOON 

            REMEMBER DUES FOR 2025 ARE DUE NOW $25

The Regular Membership  Meeting of the ILA Retirees’ Association met on November 20^th 2024 at Local 24 at 12:00 noon.  The meeting was opened with a prayer by President Albert Janda.  President Gabriel Garza of Local 24 addressed the group on the negotiations between USMX and the ILA.  At present the talks are centered around wage and retirement increases, container royalty caps, automation concerns, medical and dental insurance and drug/alcohol policies, along with other issues.  Main objective with everything is not to lose jobs and to control the dialogue.  Local 24 will hold its first ever Toy Run on December 20^th from 12 pm to 6 pm with over 130 bikes along with hundreds of other toys to be given out.  Food and soft drinks will be available with Santa Claus making his appearance.  Local 24’s President Garza told the membership about plans to have a new mural that will be painted to show the work that has been done from Break Bulk to Container work.  President Janda informed membership about Brother Pedro Reyes. being presented with a plaque for this year’s outstanding member for his continued support and attendance. The minutes of the previous meetings and treasury reports were both accepted as having been read and a motion was made, seconded and approved.  President Janda awarded each of the ladies that help with lunch each meeting a Christmas gift of $250 each.  Those receiving these gifts were; Sisters Carolyn Burke, Marta Russell, Louretta Kelly and Valli Janda and we all appreciate the work they do all year for us.  The 3 $25 gift card drawings were held and Brothers Derryl Wood, Brother Willy Stidhum Jr. And Brother Sammy Wells were this month’s winners.  Lottery number winners were Brother Ray Rutz and Sister Martha Russell.  The meeting was adjourned after no other business needs to be conducted.

The regular Executive Board Meeting was held on January 2^nd 2025 at Local 1351’s offices at 10:00 am with an opening prayer by Brother James Weiskopf.  President Albert Janda opened the meeting discussing the need for members to help fill the two vacancies on the Executive Board that will be voted on at the regular January 15^th 2025 meeting of the ILA Retirees’ Association.  Along with these two vacancies we will also vote on the positions of the 1^st and 2^nd Vice President and the Secretary.  Those positions are currently held by Brothers Derryl Wood, Brother Frank Ardila and Brother Randy Weber.  The positions of President and Treasurer held by Brothers Albert Janda and Brother Richard Newcomb were approved by the Executive Board being they were uncontested.  The Treasurer’s report was read by Brother Richard Newcomb and we are presently holding a balance of $6,379.08.  Being that the balance is substantially less than it was last year at this time a motion was made by Brother Derryl Wood and seconded by Brother James Weiskopf that we temporary suspend the salaries of both the Secretary and the Treasurer until further notice. Approved by the board.  President Janda spoke briefly about the fund raisers this year and it was approved that we continue with the 3 $25 gift cards. It was discussed that we may try to have several wooden trash cans made in the coming months as a fundraiser.  The lunch menu suggested for the January 15^th meeting will be cheese steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.  Motion was made, seconded and approved on the suggested menu.  With no other business to conduct the meeting was adjourned following a closing prayer.

Your $25- 2025 dues are being accepted now. Please mail to this address in care of Richard Newcomb and make the check out to ILA RETIREES ASSOCIATION ( no cash ).  If not received by February 28th 2025 you will dropped and no further newsletter will be sent to you. You may also pay at meetings.
