The Regular Membership Meeting of May 21st was called to order at 12:00 noon by President Albert Janda followed by a prayer by Brother James Weiskopf. President Janda started by telling the body that we going to do gift card chances at $1 each again this month and reminded the body that we are still short one executive board director. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved with a slight change presented by Brother Jerry Hibbeler. The treasurer’s report was read with a balance on April 30th 2025 of $17,211.80. A motion to accept the report as read was made and seconded and approved by body. President Janda introduced Brother Sammy Wells who spoke about the trustee meeting and gave us a recap of the March meeting and informed us that the next ILA Pension Fund trustee meeting will be August 19th 2025. He told the body that ending the first quarter of 2025 the market value began with $165,971,407; had a net cash flow of -$4,752,773; a net investment change +$848,830; ending with a market value of +$162,067,463. He explained that we are spending approximately $20 million a year with only about $10 million coming in from investments. He said that we should be conservative and that we need to have an assumed rate of return to be around 6%. Brother Wells told the body that he would keep us informed. President Janda addressed the body and spoke about the October 4th festival and that we will have a fish fry and that this time it will be prepared a little at a time so as to remain hot thru the serving times. He then spoke about the fact that if you have dental work done that you should keep you EOB (explanation of benefits) and send it to PVW for possible additional funds. Under new business Brother T. C. Nash told the body that he has been getting notices from Cigna that they are paying zero dollars if you are out of network. President Janda told the body that he will have Linda and Candance of PVW to come to the next meeting to address questions about insurance. A motion was made by Brother Hibbeler and seconded by Brother Klinkerman to have Linda and Candance address steps that we need to do when we retire to get insurance. Approved by body. The two $30 gift cards were won by #342209 Brother Larry Hart & #342228 by Brother D. K. Boyce. The number lottery winners wer Brothers Derryl Wood and Brother Joe Cordova. This month’s door prize winners were Brother Newcomb and Brother Hart. Meeting was adjourned at 1:10 pm with a closing prayer by Brother David Janda.
The Regular Executive Board Meeting met on June 4th 2025 at 11:00 am with an opening prayer by Brother David Janda. President Janda introduced Brother Victor Bass as a possible candidate for the executive board director position that is vacant. A motion was made by Brother David Janda and seconded by Brother Derryl Wood that we accept Brother Bass to the executive board. The board unanimously approved and welcomed Brother Victor Bass to the board. President Janda spoke about the success of having the 2 $30 gift cards being only $1 for each chance and that we will again offer them at $1 for each chance. President Janda told the board that Linda and Candance will attend June’s meeting and will address questions and concerns about insurance. We want everyone to bring questions they have about insurance and any questions about death benefits and how it is distributed to beneficiaries and any question as to where it goes if there is no beneficiary. It was mentioned that there is a question of how does PVW knows when a member dies. President Janda discussed that we will look into when we can have a district representative come to our retiree’s meeting. The lunch menu for the June 18th meeting will be turkey & dressing, sweet potatoes and broccoli and cheese and the cost will be $10 per plate. Desert and tea will as always be included. With no other business the meeting was adjourned at 12:15 pm followed by a prayer by Brother Larry Hart.
Remember that this month’s regular meeting on June 18th there will be Door Prizes of 2 x $50 Gift Cards and that the drawing for the 2 x $30 Gift Card Drawing will only be $1 per ticket again this month. Please let our other ILA Retiree Members know to attend.
