                   THE MARCH MEETING WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY MARCH 19th  AT LOCAL 24 AT  THE REGULAR TIME OF 12:00 NOON 

       REMEMBER DUES FOR 2025 ARE DUE PAST DUE AND THAT NEWSLETTERS WILL NOT BE SENT TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT PAID

     The Regular Membership Meeting of February 19th was called to order at 12:00 noon by President Janda and was followed by a prayer by Brother David Janda. The minutes of previous meeting and the treasury report were read and approved.  President Janda introduced our guest who was Linda and Candice of PV&W and Linda spoke about the Pension Certification Form that will be sent out next month.  This form must be completed and returned either through mail, email or fax.  It will require that your signature and witness’s signature be notarized, dated and returned. Be sure you have a valid form of ID when you have it notarized.  Linda said that if necessary it could be done at her office.  It is important to remember that if not filled out and returned that after the third request pension would be suspended. She told membership that at the April 4th Board Meeting that approval for reimbursement of Medicare Part B would be addressed and that everyone should keep a copy of their SSA-1099 form showing Part B deductions.  Linda reminded everyone that the office has moved to the 5th floor at the 11550 Fuqua office. President Janda thanked Linda and Candice for coming and addressing the membership.  He then spoke about a recent meeting with the District office about 2 weeks ago and that President Alan Robb told him that after the contract was signed that he thought that he would be attending our meetings more often.  President Robb said that they were looking into the possibility of 100% insurance coverage instead of 80/20 that it is now and that the creation of a Super Class insurance of 2000 hours or more for the workers. President Janda asked if the retirees could benefit from the container royalty fund expansion in any way and President Robb said he would look into it. President Janda then spoke to the body about the need for 2 more directors to fill positions left vacant on the executive board.  Jackie Hill Murphy came before the membership to speak and she told us that she was part of a group of ILA workers from several locals that had come together to offer aid and assistance to those in need.  She said they help new mothers with ILA with assistance such as providing diapers and food.  She said that they were providing the lunch today to all our ILA retirees.  President Janda along with all the members present thanked her and her group for their support. Gift card winners were Sister Sue Janda and Brother Bobby Wooley. Winners of the number lottery were Brother Danny Hernandez and Brother Ralph Thomson. With no other business the meeting was closed at 1:00pm following a prayer by President Janda.

 

     The Regular Executive Board met on March 5th 2025 at 10:00am with an opening prayer by Brother Tony Morris.  Brother Bill Skinner appeared before the board to volunteer for one of the vacant director positions.  The board voted unanimously to approve his membership. President Janda read the Thank You card from Brother Bill Buckley’s family thanking the Board for their flowers and cards. He then spoke about the fact that we are still asking District for their support in getting us (the retirees) 100% cover from Cigna instead of the 80% we now get. The Treasurer’s report was read by Brother Richard Newcomb telling us we now have a balance of $18,445.89 after a donation to our organization from District President Alan Robb.  District President Robb after our meeting several weeks ago wanted to help our organization and offered continued support over the next years to come. With the reading of the treasurer’s report President Janda asked the board if we could reinstate the paying of the Secretary and Treasurer.  The Board approved unanimously. Fundraisers were discussed and we will continue the 2 gift cards at $30 each and we should in the near future has the wooden trash cans available for raffles and it was decided it would be $2 each tickets. The lunch menu for March’s meeting will be meat loaf and chicken fried chicken (choice of either), new potatoes and green beans.  With no other business meeting adjourned at 11:30am followed by prayer by Brother Larry Hart.

The Executive Board meets the 1st Wednesday of each month (EXCEPT FOR DECEMBER)  AT LOCAL 1351 2145 ALABAMA ST. PASADENA, TEXAS 77503)

Your $25- 2025 dues are past due now. Please mail to this address in care of Richard Newcomb and make the check out to ILA RETIREES ASSOCIATION ( no cash ).  If not received by February 28th 2025 you will dropped and no further newsletter will be sent to you. You may also pay at meetings.
