The Regular Membership Meeting of August 20th 2025 was called to order at 12:00 pm by President Albert Janda followed by an opening prayer by Brother T. C. Nash. President Janda spoke about our October 4th festival and reminded everyone that this year it will be a fish fry where three pieces of fish, French fries, coleslaw and hush puppies will be the menu and it is to be at the Local 28’s pavilion. The address of ILA Local 28 is 4100 Green Shadows Drive in Deer Park Texas 77536. We will be setting up the festival on Friday October 3rd and that any volunteers will be appreciated. There will be only 170 total tickets sold and they will be available for purchase at the September 17th meeting and will be your last chance to buy your ticket in advance. There may be a few tickets left to be sold at the gate but no guarantee so buy NOW. The minutes of the previous meetings were read along with the Treasurer’s report. A motion to approve both the minutes and report was made by Brother Jerry Hibbeler and seconded Brother Benny Espinoza Jr. and approved by the body. Brother Sammy Wells addressed the body and gave us a recap of the results of the trustee’s meeting from June this year. He reported on the total fund growth of assets as of June 30th 2025 year to date was the beginning market value was $161,898,520 with net cash flow -$4,642,516 and a net investment change of +$6,273,741 leaving a ending market value of $163,529,745. Brother T. C. Nash asked if we are being too conservative with investments and Brother Wells responded that since the plan is frozen that there is nothing that can be done. President Janda thanked Brother Wells for his report and told the body that since the passing of Brother Michael Burke a position on the executive board has opened and asked if anyone would like to be on the board as a director please see any director to be considered for that position. With no other new or old business the drawings for gift cards was held. The first $30 gift card winner was #342518 Sister Lou Kelly. The second $30 gift card #342533 was Brother Jerry Hibbeler who donated his card back to the organization. This gift card was then won by #342540 Brother Frank Ardila who donated it to our ladies who help serve our lunch. We want to thank both Brothers for their generosity. The number lottery winners were #16 Brother Pedro Montemayor and #10 Sister Dorthy. The meeting was adjourned at 1pm with a closing prayer by Brother Larry Hart.
The regular Executive Board meeting was held on September 3rd 2025 at 11:00 am at ILA Local 1351 with an opening prayer by Brother James Weiskopf. President Janda opened the meeting talking about the October 4th festival and that there is only about 75 tickets left and wants everyone to know that there is only the next regular meeting to get your advance ticket and if you should wish to wait till the event date there is a chance that we will be sold out. President Janda spoke to the board about the presentation of an award (donation) to Jackie Hill Murphy and the group of volunteers that work with her in helping those in the ILA that are need of assistance. Her group which are members of ILA had in March of 2025 provided our retiree’s group with a catered lunch from Ernie’s and we want to help her group and acknowledge their efforts with a presentation at the next regular membership meeting. President Janda addressed the board on working out our budget for the remaining months of 2025 and a budget was discussed and finalized. In this budget it was decided that the lunches for September and October’s meeting will be only $5 each and that the gift card chances will remain at $1 each. This month’s lunch will be grilled pork chops or cheese steak with sweet potatoes, broccoli with cheese, tea and dessert. Volunteers for setup of the October 4th festival will be Friday October 3rd at 9:00am at ILA local 28 location. With no other business the meeting was adjourned at 12:15pm followed by a closing prayer by Brother David Janda.
